First, some guidelines:
Use the search feature.
Forums cluttered with threads asking the same questions or covering the same topic aren’t fun for anyone. Make sure before you start a new thread that your topic hasn’t already been covered. You may find that you can get answers more quickly by finding a thread that already addresses your questions.
Take the time to find the proper place to create your thread.
Not only does this keep the forum clean, it also gets you responses the most quickly. If your question is about something not related to gaming, post it in the Off Topic section of the forum. Need help with a quest? Head over to the Quests area of the forum. While we realize it is tempting to post in the most active forum, realize that your post will be quickly moved to the correct area. It’s a waste of your time and ours.
Make your thread title descriptive.
Threads titled “Help me” or “This looks cool” don’t get much attention. Be more specific in your titles. Examples of good thread titles: “Need help with [quest name],” and “Interesting look at the holy trinity in MMOs.” Naming your threads thusly will ensure that those who are interested in your thread content will find it. It also helps the search feature to function better, which is good for everyone involved.
Don’t post entire articles.
If you’re referencing another website, it is best to post a few lines and then provide a link. Never take credit for another person’s work. This also applies to artwork and videos. Give credit to the original creator. You wouldn’t like someone presenting your work as their own, so don’t do that to others. Remember, many internet writers’ only source of revenue is related to number of site views, so if you find a piece of writing that you enjoy or admire, support the author by linking. (Please keep in mind that any links must adhere to the rules below regarding pornographic content, selling, and hate speech.)
Respect the admins and moderators.
We aren’t here to make your life difficult or serve as a censor. We are here to make the Sacrament forums a great place for everyone. When we give you a warning, heed it. We dislike banning members, but we will cull the herd to make it a better place for the rest of our members. The admins and mods are people, too, and will not tolerate abuse, just as we do not allow abuse of our members.
Basically, be respectful. These forums are a place for the community to come together to gain and share information, and to discuss Sacrament. If you cannot conduct yourself like an adult, we have no problem showing you the door.
No pornographic content of any kind is allowed on the forums, either directly or in links. This includes photographs, videos, and audio. Posting of pornographic content will result in being banned from the forums.
We like to allow people to express themselves. Profanity is a part of the English language, and as such can be used on the Sacrament forums. Keep in mind, however, that abusing other players is not tolerated, so limit your profanity to emphasis and the like. Cussing out another player is considered abuse and will result in warnings and possible bans.
Keep it more on the PG-13 side of things, please. Discussions about explicit sexual activities have no place on a gaming forum. And while we appreciate a good back-and-forth amongst peers and friends, name-calling using extreme vulgarity is frowned upon. Profanity is fine, vulgarity is not.
Discussion of Illegal Activity
What you do on your own time is your business, but we ask that you refrain from discussing illegal activities on the Sacrament forums. This includes, but is not limited to, drug use, theft, and piracy.
No spam. Period. Posting the same thread multiple times, commenting on a post multiple times with gibberish or the same post content, etc., will not be tolerated. Abusers will have their threads closed, be warned, and then banned. Bumping a post will also get you warnings and, if continued, a ban.
This is a community forum, not a sales post. Please refrain from posting advertisements for items or services that you may have for sale. This includes both direct posts and links to ads posted elsewhere. Affiliate links are not allowed, either in posts, on member profiles, or in signatures.
We ask that our members tag their post with an alert if the post contains any spoilers for storylines within the game. Everyone plays at their own pace, and we don’t want ongoing lore or quests to be spoiled for those who prefer to take their time enjoying the game. A simple “SPOILER ALERT” at the top of the post and in the thread title should suffice.
We understand that players may slip up from time to time in their excitement over a particular story. In those cases, the thread will be edited to include a spoiler alert. Should you be found to continually post spoilers after being warned, however, we will remove your access to the forums.
The same rules apply to signatures as to any other forum content. No affiliate links, no pornographic content, and no hate speech.
If you have your own gaming-related website or blog, you may place one link to your site within your signature, provided that your site posts meaningful content (i.e. walkthroughs, game reviews, etc.) and doesn’t primarily sell products.
The forum rules extend to private messages, as well. You may not abuse another player via the PM system. If you are found to be in violation of this policy, your access to the forums will be removed.
